Hi! My name is Lilly, and I started Legendary Hues to share my love of color and creativity with the world. I began knitting when I was 10 years old by learning on Youtube (yup, seriously). Being a military brat, I've had the opportunity to live in places that people dream of visiting. When we moved to Hawai'i in 2017, I was a competitive gymnast. I absolutely love being in the gym and working my butt off. During the PCSing process, we meet someone who dyed and sold yarn. I was absolutely mesmerized by the different dyes and techniques, the possibilities were endless! Knowing I thought the process was cool, they taught me some of the basic steps so I could have yarn to knit that I dyed on my own. I loved it! Wanting to spend more time perfecting my gymnastics, I was able to do privates with my coach once a week. I enjoyed having the extra practice for my routines and fundamentals, but it did cost money. My mom told me she couldn't pay for my private lessons anymore since they weren't exactly necessary and the price for gymnastics was already pretty high. She told me I could pay for my own private lessons with my own money if it was that important to me. Without question, (yup, I was that addicted to gymnastics) I was trying to think of a way to earn enough money. That's when the lightbulb went off. DING!! With the help of my mentor, I began to try and sell what few skeins of yarn I was dying. At fourteen, trying to sell a couple of skeins under the same tent as my mentor who had what seemed like hundreds was pretty scary and discouraging. Little by little, I started to have enough money to have the private lessons I had been wanting. As I progressed in gym, my weekly practice hours increased. I slowly began to explore different aspects of fiber arts and also the financial/business side of this. After three years of learning, it was the time to move... again. Now being where I am now, I have officially branched off on my own without limitations. Although I am sadly no longer a gymnast, due to hip issues that later required surgery, its super funny to look back and see where this all started. God has led me through many ups and downs, but coming through the other side of it He has brought me clarity amidst the confusion. Using Legendary Hues, I want to share my love of bringing colors to life and how God can use hardships to bring something beautiful out of it.
